Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) has the Blues in Chicago and the Southwest.
A licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, HCSC consists of four
regional Blue health plans: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Texas, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico, and Blue Cross
Blue Shield of Oklahoma. The mutually owned company provides group and individual
health plans --including traditional indemnity plans, managed care programs,
and Medicare supplemental coverage -- to more than 11 million members, a majority
of them in Illinois. Through some non-blue subsidiaries, HCSC sells life
and disability insurance, as well as annuities.
