insurance. Coverage lines include personal automobile, homeowners, and
umbrella; business insurance for automotive repair and detail shops; and a group
program for members of Indiana and Ohio farmers unions. A network of more than
900 independent agencies sell the company's products in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan
(more than half of its business), Ohio, and Wisconsin. Hastings Mutual
traces its roots to 1885 when Michigan Mutual Tornado, Cyclone and Windstorm Insurance
was incorporated; it was renamed Hasting Mutual Insurance Company in 1959.
